Acupuncture is a therapy in which thin, filiform needles are inserted into specific points on the body to relieve pain and treat other neurologic conditions. Acupuncture needles stimulate the nervous system, which is the control center of the entire body. Through these minute stimuli, chronic and acute pain, neurologic damage, and other disease processes in the body can be corrected and encouraged to return to normal.

Dr. Alex Dahlgren
Dr. Alex Dahlgren graduated from University of Georgia in 2006. She practiced emergency veterinary medicine for 2 years before joining Cary Street Veterinary Hospital in June of 2008.
Dr. Dahlgren became certified in veterinary acupuncture through Colorado State University's program. She has special interests in older dogs and cats, working dogs and sports medicine, and pain control and rehabilitation medicine.
